FieldSoft and Motorola To Deliver Effective Firefighter Monitoring

(CHANDLER, AZ – February 8, 2003) - FieldSoft, Inc., today announced it has been selected by Motorola (NYSE:MOT) to build an FDonScene Interface to Motorola's Fireground Communication System which is scheduled to rollout in phases, beginning later this year. FDonScene incident management software and the FDonScene Interface to Fireground will enable the incident commander to easily enter and review data needed to monitor the working assignments of first responders on the scene. Motorola plans to distribute the FDonScene Interface and Fireground compatible versions of FDonScene software along with its new Fireground Communication System (http://www.motorola.com/cgiss/fireground).

"Motorola is renowned for putting high-quality, reliable portable two-way radios in the hands of first responders. FieldSoft is known for doing the same with incident management software," said FieldSoft founder and retired Battalion Chief Mark Bouchard. "Together the companies are leveraging their combined skills to develop a leading edge firefighter safety and survival system that will be easy to use with a fully automated voice and data system to replace cumbersome "dog tags," plastic "passports," or marker boards."

Motorola's Fireground Communication System (http://www.motorola.com/cgiss/fireground) is being designed to extend hand-held two-way radio benefits beyond simple voice communication. It consists of five central components: the XTS 5000™ portable two-way radio, Incident Management Software, a Ruggedized Command Terminal, Digital RF Modem and an optional Portable Repeater. Together, these components can provide on-scene, in-building radio coverage, enhanced personnel tracking and monitoring.

FDonScene software and the Interface to Fireground radios will reside on one or more computers. The integrated software will serve as the incident commander's user interface to the Fireground system. FDonScene software is designed to handle typical incident command mechanics so command staff can focus greater attention to strategy, tactics, and hazards.

With the FDonScene Interface, Fireground radios will be configured to send firefighter identification, vehicle riding position, and sector, division, or group assignment data for each first responder to one or more command computers located at the incident scene. Additionally, an automatic polling feature can check the status of each portable radio to determine if the radio user is able to communicate with "Command." Enhanced, direct interaction between "Command" and other first responders will be a key feature, providing each person with the ability to send an emergency alert to the command post. Moreover, the command team will have the ability to activate, with the touch of a single button, an integrated "Go Defensive," integrated evacuation feature.

Motorola Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Global Safety and Security Solutions Mike Worthington, remarked, "This powerful, portable solution will deliver communications features not previously commercially available. With planned future enhancements like rescue/location tracking, it will be able to provide a critical link to public safety personnel at the incident scene".

FDonScene integration to Fireground is made possible through use of the FieldSoft application-programming interface (API). The Motorola/FieldSoft end-to-end solution will be able to take firefighter accountability operations to new performance levels. The combined system is expected to convert an extraordinary amount of possibly confusing data, into simple to understand - and act upon - information. The end result will be that both command staff and first responders will be able to benefit from a truly effective, yet simple to use, firefighter accountability system.
